Part P Certification
Part P notifiable work
To reduce the number of electrical related deaths,
injuries and fires, the Government has introduced an Approved Document Part P of the
building regulations to help improve electrical safety. This will also help to improve the overall
quality of electrical installations, in particular, in domestic situations.
Part P is one of the documents that make up the
Building Regulations which in turn is made up of many parts relating to all building disciplines
and specifying quality and safety minimum standards. Part P requires electrical work in
certain parts of a dwelling, or garden and buildings attached to that dwelling, to be notified to
the local Building Control. This is mainly the case where work is in a location where an increased
risk of shock exists; showers, bathrooms, kitchens and gardens for example. A fee is payable for
this notification and can range from £60 to £360.
I.L.S. Electrical contractors are NAPIT registered
installers. This registration allows I.L.S. Electrical to certify the work we carry out and arrange
notification to local Building Control. Because of this, the cost is kept to a minimum and all
paper work is handled by us.
Once the job is completed, you will receive a certificate
confirming everything is done correctly.
